How the CVE Works:
CVE-2025-46788 is caused by improper certificate validation in Zoom Workplace for Linux versions before 6.4.13. An attacker exploiting this flaw can intercept communications via a man-in-the-middle (MITM) attack due to weak TLS certificate checks. The vulnerability allows unauthorized disclosure of sensitive data transmitted between Zoom clients and servers. Attackers could exploit weak or misconfigured certificate chains, leading to decrypted session data. The flaw stems from insufficient checks in the SSL/TLS handshake process, permitting connections even when certificate trust chains are invalid.
