How the CVE Works:
CVE-2025-49464 is a classic buffer overflow vulnerability in Zoom Client for Windows, triggered when processing maliciously crafted network packets. An attacker with network access can exploit this flaw by sending oversized data to a vulnerable Zoom Client, overwriting adjacent memory regions. This corruption can lead to application crashes (DoS) or potential remote code execution (RCE) if the overflow is carefully manipulated to hijack control flow. The vulnerability stems from improper bounds checking in the packet handling routine, allowing data beyond the allocated buffer size to be written.
DailyCVE Form:
Platform: Zoom Client
Version: Windows (pre-5.15.8)
