How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-49664 is an information disclosure vulnerability in the Windows User-Mode Driver Framework (UMDF) Host. The flaw occurs due to improper handling of memory buffers, allowing a local attacker with valid credentials to read sensitive kernel data. When a vulnerable driver processes certain IOCTL requests, it fails to properly sanitize memory addresses, leading to unintended exposure of privileged information. Attackers can exploit this by crafting malicious driver requests, triggering the leak of kernel pointers or other critical data, which could aid further exploitation.
