iperf, Authentication Bypass, CVE-2025-54350 (Critical)

Listen to this Post

How the CVE Works

CVE-2025-54350 affects iperf versions before 3.19.1, where a malformed authentication request triggers an assertion failure in `iperf_auth.c` during Base64 decoding. This flaw causes the application to crash, leading to a denial of service (DoS). Attackers can exploit this by sending crafted authentication packets, disrupting legitimate iperf sessions. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input validation in the authentication mechanism, allowing unauthenticated attackers to force an abrupt termination of the service.
