How the CVE Works
The CVE-2025-54381 vulnerability in BentoML (v1.4.0 to 1.4.19) allows unauthenticated attackers to exploit SSRF via file upload handlers. The multipart form and JSON processors fetch files from user-supplied URLs without validation, enabling requests to internal networks, cloud metadata APIs, or restricted systems. Attackers can bypass security controls by crafting malicious URLs, leading to data leaks, internal service abuse, or further exploitation. The flaw exists due to insufficient input sanitization in the `file_upload` module, where external resource fetching is enabled by default.
