How the CVE Works
The vulnerability exists in the web-based management interface of Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) and ISE-PIC. The systems fail to properly sanitize user-supplied input in specific web pages. An authenticated attacker with low privileges can craft a malicious URL containing a script payload. When an authenticated administrator is tricked into clicking this link, the payload is reflected by the server and executed within their browser session. This execution happens in the context of the management interface, allowing the attacker to perform actions as the administrator, such as stealing session cookies or making unauthorized configuration changes. The attack is successful because the application does not validate or encode the input before including it in the HTTP response.
