How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-20680 is a critical vulnerability in MediaTek’s Bluetooth driver, allowing an out-of-bounds write due to an incorrect bounds check. Attackers can exploit this flaw to execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges without user interaction. The vulnerability occurs when improperly validated input data is processed, leading to memory corruption. This enables local privilege escalation, potentially compromising the entire system. The flaw stems from insufficient validation in the driver’s packet handling logic, where maliciously crafted Bluetooth packets trigger the overflow.
