How the CVE-2025-61797 Works
This vulnerability is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) flaw within Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). A low-privileged attacker can submit malicious JavaScript code into specific, improperly sanitized form fields. This malicious payload is then stored on the AEM server. Unlike reflected XSS, the attack script is permanently hosted on the vulnerable page. When an authenticated victim, such as an administrator or another user, subsequently browses to the compromised page, the stored malicious script is automatically executed within their browser session. This execution occurs in the context of the victim’s session, allowing the attacker to steal session cookies, perform actions on behalf of the user, or deface the website. Exploitation requires that the victim is tricked into visiting the specific page containing the payload, often via a malicious link.
