How the CVE Works
This vulnerability is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) flaw in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Specific form fields within versions 11.6 and earlier lack proper input sanitization. An attacker with low-privileged access can submit crafted malicious scripts into these vulnerable fields, where the payload is stored by the application. When an authenticated victim, such as an administrator or another user, later visits a page containing the tainted form field, the malicious JavaScript is executed within their browser session. This exploitation requires user interaction, as the victim must navigate to the compromised page. The attacker can then perform actions within the context of the victim’s session, potentially leading to session hijacking, defacement, or unauthorized actions.
Platform: Adobe Experience Manager
Version: 11.6 and earlier
Vulnerability: Stored XSS
Severity: Medium
date: 10/14/2025
Prediction: Patch expected 12/2025
What Undercode Say:
`curl -u admin:password -F “=Test” -F “field=” http://aem-host:4502/content/form.post.html`
`grep -r “unsanitized” /apps/component/`
`find /var/aem/ -name “.jsp” -exec grep -l “request.getParameter” {} \;`
How Exploit:
Attacker logs into AEM with low privileges, locates and injects a malicious script into a vulnerable form field (e.g., , description) that does not properly sanitize user input. The payload is saved to the content repository. When a high-privileged user views the page containing the injected payload, the script executes in their browser.
Protection from this CVE
Apply Adobe security update. Implement strict input validation and output encoding on all user-supplied data. Enforce a robust Content Security Policy (CSP). Apply the principle of least privilege for user accounts.
Impact:
Session hijacking. Unauthorized actions. Content defacement.
