How the CVE Works
The vulnerability in @workos-inc/authkit-remix (versions <0.15.0) exposed sensitive authentication tokens (sealedSession and accessToken) by returning them directly in the `authkitLoader` response. These tokens were then rendered into the browser’s HTML, making them accessible to client-side scripts. Attackers could exploit this via XSS, malicious extensions, or manual HTML inspection to hijack sessions, impersonate users, or gain unauthorized access to protected resources. The fix removes these tokens from default responses and introduces a secure server-side token retrieval mechanism.
