How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-48002 exploits an integer overflow vulnerability in Windows Hyper-V’s virtual network switch. When processing large network packets, improper bounds checking allows an attacker to trigger a wraparound in memory allocation calculations. This leads to buffer underflows, exposing adjacent kernel memory contents to a malicious VM or host on the same physical network. The flaw resides in hvix64.exe’s packet segmentation logic, where a 32-bit integer overflow during packet size validation bypasses isolation safeguards. Attackers craft jumbo frames with manipulated TCP/IP options to leak privileged data across VM boundaries.

What Undercode Say
Get-VMNetworkAdapter -All | Where-Object {$_.SwitchName -eq "External"}
if (packet_size > MAX_ALLOC - header_len) {
// Integer overflow bypass
memcpy(leaked_data, untrusted_payload, overflow_len);
}
