The vulnerability stems from a misconfigured Traefik reverse proxy in the Versa Concerto SD-WAN orchestration platform. Traefik, used for routing and load balancing, fails to enforce authentication on specific administrative endpoints. This misconfiguration allows unauthenticated remote attackers to bypass access controls. By crafting HTTP requests to exposed paths, attackers can directly reach the internal Actuator endpoint. The Actuator endpoint, typically protected, is left accessible without credentials. It provides sensitive debugging information, including heap dumps and trace logs. Heap dumps contain memory snapshots with potential secrets like passwords and encryption keys. Trace logs detail application requests and may include session tokens or user data. The bypass likely involves path-based routing rules that omit authentication middleware. Affected versions range from 12.1.2 through 12.2.0. Attackers can exploit this by sending simple GET requests to /actuator/ endpoints. No prior authentication or complex techniques are required. This leads to unauthorized access to the platform’s management functions. The vulnerability is network-exploitable with low attack complexity. The CVSS score of 9.2 reflects the high confidentiality and system impact. Successful exploitation can compromise the entire SD-WAN orchestration system. It enables data theft, further network intrusion, and potential full system control. Vendors must review Traefik configuration files for proper security rules. Immediate restriction of actuator endpoints is crucial to mitigate risk.
