How the CVE Works
Thor versions before 1.4.0 improperly sanitize user-supplied input when constructing shell commands within its library functions. An attacker can inject malicious shell metacharacters into input parameters, leading to arbitrary command execution in the context of the application. The vulnerability arises due to insufficient validation before passing arguments to system shell calls. For example, if Thor processes untrusted input via `system()` or backticks without escaping, an attacker could chain commands, manipulate files, or escalate privileges.
