How the CVE Works
The vulnerability in the Snow crate (v0.9.5 and earlier) occurs when using a stateful TransportState. Attackers can exploit an unauthenticated nonce increment, leading to message delivery denial. The nonce, a cryptographic counter preventing replay attacks, increments improperly without validation. This disrupts message sequencing, causing legitimate messages to be rejected due to mismatched nonce values.
