How the CVE Works:
The vulnerability exists in the `/Customers/settings.php` file of Simple Shopping Cart 1.0. The application takes the `user_id` parameter from a user’s HTTP request and uses it directly in a SQL database query without proper sanitization or the use of prepared statements. An attacker, even with low-privileged user access (PR:L), can send a specially crafted payload within the `user_id` parameter. This malicious input alters the intended SQL command’s structure, allowing the attacker to read, modify, or delete database records they should not access. The flaw is remotely exploitable (AV:N) over the network with low attack complexity (AC:L), leading to confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts on the underlying database (VC:L/VI:L/VA:L).
DailyCVE Form:
Platform: Simple Shopping Cart
Version: 1.0
Vulnerability: SQL Injection
Severity: MEDIUM
Date: 12/08/2025
Prediction: Patch Unlikely
What Undercode Say:
Analytics:
curl -s "http://target/Customers/settings.php" --data "user_id=1' AND SLEEP(5)--" sqlmap -u "http://target/Customers/settings.php" --data="user_id=1" -p user_id --dbs grep -r "user_id.\$_GET|user_id.\$_POST" /var/www/html/
How Exploit:
1. Attacker logs into a low-privilege account.
- Intercepts or crafts request to `settings.php` with `user_id` parameter.
- Injects SQL payload (e.g.,
1' UNION SELECT username, password FROM users--).
4. Extracts sensitive application data from the database.
Protection from this CVE:
- Use parameterized queries (prepared statements).
- Implement strict input validation.
- Apply the principle of least privilege to database accounts.
- Deploy a Web Application Firewall (WAF).
Impact:
Unauthorized data access, data manipulation, authentication bypass, potential full database compromise.
