CVE-2024-29041 affects the vulnq package where improper parsing and NVD vendor mapping errors can cause certain ecosystem queries (such as npm express) to fail silently. When a wrong CPE or incorrect vendor mapping occurs, NVD returns zero results, which the application incorrectly registers as a conclusive, clean scan. This flaw obscures active security advisories and hides real vulnerabilities behind a false sense of security. Fixing this ensures that unqueryable identifiers or failed mappings raise proper errors or warnings rather than false negatives.
DailyCVE Form:
Platform: SemClone vulnq
Version: 1.2.0
Vulnerability : False Clean Scan
Severity: Low
date: 2026-01-05

Validate CPE mapping correctness.
Exploit: (Educational Purposes!)
vulnq --cpe "2.3:a:apache:tomcat:9.0.0:::::::"
query = VulnerabilityQuery(cpe="2.3:a:expressjs:express:4.17.1") results = query.execute() Returns false positive clean scan if mapping fails
Protection: from this CVE
Upgrade vulnq to latest release.
Ensure strict error handling on API limits.
Avoid deprecated source queries.
Impact:
