How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-27056 is a memory corruption vulnerability in Qualcomm chipsets occurring during sub-system restarts. When the system attempts to free up resources during cleanup, improper handling of memory pointers leads to corruption. Attackers can exploit this to execute arbitrary code or cause denial-of-service (DoS) by triggering a malicious payload during the restart sequence. The flaw resides in firmware-level resource management, allowing privilege escalation if exploited.
DailyCVE Form
Platform: Qualcomm chipsets
Version: Multiple (pre-patch)
Vulnerability: Memory corruption
Severity: Critical
Date: 07/08/2025
Prediction: Patch by 08/15/2025
What Undercode Say
Check for vulnerable firmware: dmesg | grep -i "qualcomm subsystem restart" Debug memory dump: gdb -ex "x/xw &corrupted_pointer" --batch /proc/kcore
Exploit
- Trigger sub-system restart via malformed IOCTL.
- Crafted payload during cleanup hijacks execution flow.
- Kernel-mode code execution possible.
Protection from this CVE
- Apply Qualcomm’s pending firmware update.
- Disable unnecessary sub-system restarts.
- Enforce kernel pointer sanitization.
Impact
- Full device compromise (RCE).
- Persistent DoS via repeated crashes.
- Bypass of hardware-enforced security boundaries.
