How the CVE Works
Mattermost fails to enforce proper authentication checks when retrieving cached posts using PendingPostID. An attacker with authenticated access can guess recently generated `PendingPostID` values and exploit this flaw to access private channel posts without authorization. The vulnerability affects versions 10.5.0 to 10.5.6, 10.8.0 to 10.8.1, 10.7.0 to 10.7.3, and 9.11.0 to 9.11.16. The lack of validation allows unauthorized data leakage from restricted channels.
