The CVE-2025-XXXX vulnerability in phpPgAdmin arises from a failure to properly sanitize user-supplied input before it is reflected in the application’s HTML output. The application uses the `$_REQUEST` superglobal array to retrieve user parameters in several files, such as `sequences.php` and indexes.php. These unsanitized inputs are then directly embedded into the web page. An attacker can craft a malicious URL containing a JavaScript payload as one of these parameters. When an authenticated administrator visits this manipulated link, the embedded script executes within their browser session. This allows the attacker to steal the administrator’s session cookies, perform actions on their behalf, or deface the application interface, all without proper input validation and output encoding.
