How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-50106 is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Java SE’s 2D component, affecting multiple versions (8u451, 11.0.27, 17.0.15, etc.). The flaw arises due to improper handling of image processing operations, allowing remote attackers to bypass Java’s sandbox restrictions via crafted API calls. When malicious code is executed (e.g., through a web service or untrusted applet), it can exploit this weakness to achieve arbitrary code execution, compromising confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The attack is complex (requiring specific API abuse) but can lead to full system takeover if successful.
