How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-40684 is a reflected XSS vulnerability in Human Resource Management System (HRMS) version 1.0. The flaw exists in the `searccountry` parameter of /country.php, where user-supplied input is not properly sanitized before being reflected in the server’s response. An attacker can craft a malicious URL containing JavaScript payloads, which executes in the victim’s browser when the link is clicked. This allows session hijacking, defacement, or phishing attacks. The vulnerability requires user interaction (clicking a malicious link) and is medium-severity due to its need for social engineering.
