How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-30749 is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Java SE’s 2D component, affecting multiple versions (8u451, 11.0.27, 17.0.15, 21.0.7, 24.0.1). The flaw allows remote attackers to bypass Java’s sandbox security via specially crafted images processed by the 2D rendering engine. When a malicious image is loaded, it triggers a memory corruption issue, enabling arbitrary code execution within the JVM context. Exploitation requires the victim to load untrusted code (e.g., from a malicious website or applet). The CVSS 3.1 score of 8.1 reflects high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
