How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-40686 is a reflected XSS vulnerability in Human Resource Management System (HRMS) v1.0. The flaw exists in /detailview.php, where the `employeeid` parameter improperly sanitizes user input. An attacker crafts a malicious URL containing JavaScript payloads, which executes in the victim’s browser when clicked. Since no CSRF protection is present, the attack can be delivered via phishing or embedded links. The impact is limited due to the requirement of user interaction (UI:A) and low-privilege access (PR:L).
