CVE-2026-70929 is a critical improper authorization vulnerability identified within the Security component of Oracle Hyperion Financial Management (HFM). The flaw affects version 11.2.25.0.000 and potentially other supported releases in that lineage. It is remotely exploitable over HTTP by a low-privileged attacker. The attack complexity is low, requires no user interaction, and can be executed over a network.
Upon successful exploitation, an attacker can gain unauthorized creation, deletion, or modification access to critical data, as well as unauthorized read access to all accessible HFM data. This compromises both the confidentiality and integrity of the system. The vulnerability stems from improper authorization checks within an unknown function of the HFM Security component. It allows a low-privileged user to escalate their privileges and perform actions typically reserved for administrators.
The vulnerability is assigned a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.1 (High). The vector string is CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N, indicating a network-exploitable flaw with low attack complexity and no required user interaction. The impact on confidentiality and integrity is high, while availability is unaffected.
This vulnerability is part of the Oracle August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update (CSPU), which was released on August 18, 2026. The update addresses 943 new security patches across affected Oracle product families. Within the Oracle Hyperion family, 262 patches were released, with 107 being remotely exploitable without authentication.
The flaw is considered highly dangerous due to its ease of exploitation and the sensitive nature of financial data typically managed by HFM. Organizations running the affected version should prioritize patching to prevent potential data breaches and unauthorized modifications.

What Undercode Say:
The CVE-2026-70929 vulnerability presents a significant risk to Oracle Hyperion Financial Management deployments. The flaw’s low attack complexity and requirement for only low privileges make it an attractive target for malicious actors. Organizations should conduct immediate assessments to identify affected systems and apply the August 2026 CSPU without delay. Network segmentation and strict access controls can help mitigate the risk until patches are applied. Continuous monitoring for unusual HTTP requests targeting HFM endpoints is recommended.

Exploit: (Educational Purposes!)
An attacker with low-privileged credentials can exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted HTTP requests to the HFM web interface. The requests target the vulnerable Security component function, bypassing authorization checks. This allows the attacker to perform unauthorized operations, such as creating new financial accounts, modifying existing data, or deleting critical records. The attack can be executed remotely without user interaction, making it scalable for automated exploitation. Proof-of-concept exploits may involve manipulating HTTP parameters or session tokens to escalate privileges.
Protection:
- Apply the Oracle August 2026 Critical Security Patch Update immediately.
- Restrict network access to HFM servers, ensuring they are not exposed to the internet.
- Implement strict role-based access controls to limit privileges.
- Monitor HFM logs for suspicious HTTP requests and unauthorized data modifications.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments to identify unpatched systems.
Impact:
Successful exploitation leads to unauthorized access, modification, or deletion of all HFM-accessible data. This can result in financial data breaches, loss of data integrity, and potential regulatory non-compliance. The vulnerability poses a direct threat to the confidentiality and integrity of critical financial information. Organizations may face reputational damage, financial losses, and legal consequences if exploited.
