How the CVE Works
The vulnerability in the Oak Deno framework arises due to inefficient parsing of the `x-forwarded-proto` and `x-forwarded-for` HTTP headers. When an attacker sends a specially crafted header with excessive padding or malformed data, the server’s parsing logic consumes disproportionate CPU resources, leading to significant slowdowns. The issue stems from uncontrolled string manipulation in the header processing functions, causing quadratic time complexity when handling large or malformed inputs. This allows an attacker to degrade server performance via a low-bandwidth HTTP request, potentially leading to denial-of-service conditions.

What Undercode Say
Analytics:
deno run --allow-net server.ts deno run --allow-net client.ts
import { Application } from "https://deno.land/x/oak/mod.ts";
const app = new Application({proxy: true});
How Exploit
1. Craft malicious `x-forwarded-for` header.
2. Send payloads with excessive padding.
3. Observe server latency increase.
Protection from this CVE
1. Update Oak Deno framework.
2. Implement header size limits.
3. Use reverse-proxy filtering.
Impact
- Server performance degradation.
- Potential DoS amplification.
- Low-bandwidth attack vector.
