How the mentioned CVE works
The vulnerability exists within the Meteobridge web interface, which is built using CGI scripts. A specific endpoint, /cgi-bin/meteo.sh, does not properly sanitize user-supplied input in the `data1` POST parameter. When a crafted HTTP POST request is sent to this endpoint, the unsanitized input from the `data1` parameter is passed directly to a system shell command. This allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to inject arbitrary operating system commands by embedding them within the `data1` parameter. Since the Meteobridge service runs with root privileges, the injected commands are also executed with full system-level (root) access, granting the attacker complete control over the underlying device.
