The CVE-2025-XXXXX vulnerability in Mattermost Confluence Plugin versions before 1.5.0 allows unauthenticated attackers to create unauthorized channel subscriptions through API calls. The plugin fails to implement proper authentication checks when handling requests to the ‘/create-channel-subscription’ endpoint. Attackers can exploit this by sending crafted POST requests to this endpoint without valid session tokens or credentials. The system processes these requests as if they came from authenticated users, creating subscriptions that forward Confluence content to specified Mattermost channels. This flaw exists due to missing authorization middleware in the subscription creation handler function.
