How the CVE-2025-66320 Works:
This vulnerability is a multi-thread race condition within the camera framework module on Huawei devices. When multiple application threads concurrently and rapidly call specific camera service APIs, they can create a timing window where shared resources are accessed in an inconsistent state. This occurs due to improper synchronization primitives (like missing or inadequate locks) around critical sections of the camera HAL or service code. The competing threads may perform operations such as allocation, configuration, or release of camera resources out of sequence. This invalid state can cause the camera service process to crash or become unresponsive, leading to a local denial-of-service (DoS) condition where the camera becomes unavailable until the device or service is restarted.
dailycve form:
Platform: Huawei Mobile Devices
Version: Camera Framework Module
Vulnerability : Race Condition
Severity: Medium
date: 2025-12-08
Prediction: 2025-12-22
What Undercode Say:
$ adb logcat | grep -i "camera.error|crashed" $ frida-trace -U -i "pthread_" com.huawei.camera Code snippet hint: Review locking around hw_module_t methods.
How Exploit:
Local app triggers race condition via rapid, concurrent camera API calls (open/close, configure) to exhaust or corrupt resource handles, causing service crash.
Protection from this CVE:
Apply Huawei security patch. Implement proper mutex/semaphore locks in camera driver and framework code. Conduct thread-safety code review.
Impact:
Local Denial of Service, camera unavailability, system instability.
