How the CVE Works
The vulnerability in Hashicorp Vault’s TOTP Secrets Engine allows time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) to be reused within their validity period due to improper validation checks. Attackers exploiting this flaw could bypass multi-factor authentication (MFA) by replaying previously used codes before they expire. The issue stems from insufficient code expiration enforcement in the validation endpoint, permitting unauthorized access if intercepted or regenerated within the same time window.
