The vulnerability in EasySoft Zentaopms stems from insecure deserialization within the Edit function of the Committer component. Attackers can remotely exploit this by manipulating the filePath parameter in a specific HTTP request. The filePath argument is passed via the URL /index.php?m=editor&f=edit&filePath=… and is base64 encoded. For instance, the sample “cGhhcjovLy9ldGMvcGFzc3dk” decodes to “phar:///etc/passwd”, hinting at PHAR deserialization. The application deserializes this input without proper validation. This allows object injection in the PHP environment. By crafting a malicious filePath value containing a serialized PHP object, an attacker can trigger arbitrary code execution. The deserialization process may invoke dangerous magic methods like __wakeup or __destruct. This leads to full remote command execution on the server. The vulnerability is accessible with low privileges as per the CVSS vector. The exploit has been publicly disclosed, increasing the risk. The vendor was notified but did not respond, leaving systems unprotected. The critical severity arises from the potential for complete system compromise. The attack can be launched via a simple GET or POST request. The lack of input sanitization is the core issue. Users of the affected version should assume they are vulnerable. Immediate mitigation is required to prevent attacks.
