D-Link DIR-825, Stack-Based Buffer Overflow, CVE-2025-7206 (Critical)

Listen to this Post

How CVE-2025-7206 Works

The vulnerability exists in the `switch_language.cgi` component of the httpd service in D-Link DIR-825 firmware version 2.10. The function `sub_410DDC` improperly handles the `Language` parameter passed to it, failing to perform proper bounds checking before copying user-supplied data into a fixed-size stack buffer. This allows remote attackers to trigger a stack-based buffer overflow by sending an overly long string in the Language parameter. Since the device is no longer supported, no patches are expected from the vendor, making exploitation more likely in unpatched systems.
