How the CVE Works:
CVE-2025-23015 is a privilege escalation vulnerability in Apache Cassandra where a user with `MODIFY` permission on all keyspaces can exploit unsafe actions to gain superuser privileges. The flaw arises from improper validation of user permissions when performing system-level operations. By manipulating keyspace modifications, an attacker can bypass access controls and execute unauthorized commands on the cluster. This affects Cassandra versions up to 3.0.30, 3.11.17, 4.0.15, 4.1.7, and 5.0.2.
