How the CVE Works
Apache Zeppelin versions 0.11.1 to before 0.12.0 fail to validate WebSocket origins, allowing attackers to bypass same-origin policy restrictions. A malicious actor can initiate WebSocket connections from an unauthorized domain, potentially accessing sensitive internal paragraph data. The lack of proper origin checks enables Cross-Site WebSocket Hijacking (CSWSH), leading to unauthorized data exfiltration.
