The CVE-2025-XXXX vulnerability in Apache Tomcat arises due to improper handling of session identifiers via the rewrite valve. Attackers can exploit this flaw by forcing a user to use a predetermined session ID, leading to session fixation. This allows unauthorized access if the victim authenticates while the malicious session remains active. The vulnerability affects Tomcat versions 11.0.0-M1 to 11.0.7, 10.1.0-M1 to 10.1.41, and 9.0.0.M1 to 9.0.105. The fix ensures session IDs are regenerated during authentication, preventing fixation.
