Apache Seata, Deserialization of Untrusted Data, CVE-2025-53606 (Critical)

Listen to this Post

How the CVE Works

CVE-2025-53606 is a critical deserialization vulnerability in Apache Seata (incubating) 2.4.0, allowing remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by sending maliciously crafted serialized objects. The flaw occurs due to insufficient validation during deserialization, enabling unsafe object instantiation. Attackers exploit this by injecting harmful payloads into transaction requests, leading to remote code execution (RCE) under the context of the Seata server. The vulnerability stems from insecure use of Java’s native serialization, which lacks proper checks for untrusted data.

DailyCVE Form

Platform: Apache Seata

What Undercode Say

Check Seata version
seata-server --version
Exploit PoC (simulated)
python3 seata_exploit.py --target <IP> --port 8091
Mitigation (pre-patch)
iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 8091 -j DROP

Exploit:

  • Sends malicious serialized payloads.
  • Bypasses deserialization checks.
  • Triggers RCE via crafted transaction requests.

Protection from this CVE

  • Upgrade to Seata 2.5.0.
  • Disable remote serialization.
  • Use allowlist deserialization.

Impact:
