Advantech WebAccess/VPN, SQL Injection, CVE-2025-34247 (Medium)

Listen to this Post

The CVE-2025-34247 vulnerability involves a SQL injection flaw in Advantech WebAccess/VPN. It specifically exists within the NetworksController.addNetworkAction() function. This function processes datatable search parameters from user inputs. These parameters are not properly sanitized or validated before use. An authenticated user with low privileges, such as an observer, can exploit this. By injecting malicious SQL code via search fields, they manipulate database queries. The injected SQL is concatenated directly into backend queries. This allows execution of arbitrary SQL commands on the database. Attackers can use techniques like UNION-based injection. They can extract sensitive information from the database. This includes data like user credentials or network configurations. The vulnerability affects all versions prior to 1.1.5. The attack vector is network-based and requires authentication. However, only low privileges are needed for exploitation. The flaw stems from inadequate input handling in the code. It bypasses security controls due to lack of parameterized queries. Exploitation can lead to full database disclosure. Tools like sqlmap can automate the injection process. Patching to version 1.1.5 fixes this by implementing proper sanitization.
Platform: Advantech WebAccess/VPN
Version: Prior to 1.1.5
Vulnerability: SQL Injection
Severity: Medium
Date: 11/06/2025

Prediction: Patch version 1.1.5

What Undercode Say:

Analytics:

curl -X POST -d “search=1′ OR ‘1’=’1” http://target/networks/addNetworkAction
sqlmap -u “http://target/networks/addNetworkAction” –data=”search=test” –dbms=mysql

How Exploit:

Authenticated low-privilege user inputs SQL payloads into datatable search parameters, executing malicious queries to extract database data.

Protection from this CVE:

Update to version 1.1.5, use parameterized queries, implement input validation, and apply least privilege principles.

Impact:

Disclosure of sensitive database information, potential credential theft, and compromised system confidentiality.
