The CVE-2025-34246 vulnerability exists in Advantech WebAccess/VPN versions before 1.1.5. It is a SQL injection flaw within the `AjaxPrevalidationController.ajaxAction()` method. Authenticated users with low-privilege observer roles can trigger this vulnerability. Exploitation occurs through the datatable search functionality. User-supplied input from search parameters is not properly sanitized. This input is directly concatenated into SQL queries executed by the application. An attacker can inject malicious SQL code via these parameters. For example, by crafting a search term with SQL meta-characters. The injected SQL alters the intended query structure. This allows the attacker to bypass normal query restrictions. Consequently, it leads to unauthorized disclosure of database contents. The vulnerability permits reading sensitive data from the database. This could include user information, system configurations, or other records. The attack requires a valid low-level account session. It is performed through HTTP requests to the AJAX endpoint. The root cause is the lack of parameterized queries or input validation. Fixing it involves implementing proper data sanitization. Using prepared statements would prevent this injection. Upgrading to version 1.1.5 or later resolves the issue.
