How the CVE-2025-54272 Works
Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) versions 11.6 and earlier contain a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability in certain form fields. An attacker with low-privileged contributor-level access can submit malicious JavaScript code into these vulnerable input fields. This malicious payload is then stored by the AEM application. When any other user, such as an administrator, visits the page where the tainted content is rendered, the embedded script is executed in their browser session. This execution happens within the context of the victim’s session, potentially allowing the attacker to steal session cookies, perform actions on behalf of the user, or deface the website. Exploitation is not automatic and requires the victim to be tricked into navigating to the specific page containing the exploit.
