How the mentioned CVE works:
The vulnerability is a stored Cross-site Scripting (XSS) in the 3DSearch component of 3DSwymer on the 3DEXPERIENCE R2025x release. Attackers can inject malicious JavaScript code into the search functionality. This input is not properly sanitized before being stored in the application database. When users access the affected search page, the injected script is served and executed in their browsers. The execution occurs within the context of the victim’s session. This allows attackers to steal session cookies, impersonate users, or perform actions on their behalf. The flaw arises from insufficient input validation and output encoding. User-supplied data in search queries is rendered without escaping HTML entities. Script tags and event handlers can be embedded in search parameters. These payloads persist on the server and trigger for multiple users over time. Exploitation requires the attacker to have access to the 3DSearch feature, which may be authenticated. The stored nature amplifies the risk as one injection affects all subsequent viewers. JavaScript code can redirect users to phishing sites or deploy keyloggers. It can also modify page content to deface the application or spread malware. The vulnerability leverages the trust users have in the legitimate domain. Browser security models treat the script as coming from the trusted source. Mitigation involves sanitizing all user inputs and implementing strict content security policies. Regular security audits are essential to identify such injection points.
