How the CVE Works
The vulnerability CVE-2025-62484 is caused by an inefficient regular expression (regex) within the Zoom Workplace client. An unauthenticated attacker can exploit this by sending a specially crafted network request to a target user. The malicious payload contains a string that is purposefully designed to be extremely difficult for the vulnerable regex to process. This triggers a phenomenon known as a Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS). The complex matching process causes the application’s thread to enter a catastrophic backtracking loop, consuming 100% of the CPU core for a prolonged period. This effectively freezes the application, denying service to the legitimate user and creating an opportunity for privilege escalation by disrupting normal security checks and application state.
DailyCVE Form

What Undercode Say:
`$ zoom-client –version`
`$ npm audit`
`curl -A “Malicious-Pattern” target-zoom-client`
`import re re.compile(r”(a+)+b”)`
How Exploit:
Craft malicious network packet with complex regex string.
Send to target Zoom client via network.
Trigger catastrophic backtracking in regex engine.
Freeze application thread for privilege escalation.
Protection from this CVE
Update to Zoom Workplace Client version 6.5.10.
Implement network segmentation for clients.
Use web application firewalls (WAFs).
Disable unnecessary client network services.
Impact:
Application freeze and denial-of-service.
Potential privilege escalation.
