Twonky Server, Access Control Flaw, CVE-2025-13315 (Critical)

Listen to this Post

How the mentioned CVE works:

Twonky Server 8.5.2 exposes a web service API for management. The authentication controls for this API are improperly implemented. Unauthenticated attackers can send HTTP requests to sensitive endpoints without any credentials. Specifically, endpoints like /api/logs do not validate session tokens. This allows direct access to log files via simple GET requests. The log file contains the administrator’s username and an encrypted password. The encryption may be weak or reversible, enabling offline cracking. The flaw stems from missing access checks in the code. It affects both Linux and Windows versions. Attackers can exploit this remotely over the network. No user interaction or privileges are required. The attack complexity is low, using tools like curl. This leads to confidentiality and integrity loss. The vulnerability is critical due to exposed credentials. It can result in full server compromise. The CVSS 4.0 score reflects high impact metrics. Network-based attacks are feasible without obstacles. Entire system security is undermined by this flaw.
