Swift-NIO-HTTP2, HTTP/2 Reset Vulnerability, CVE-2024-XXXX (Medium)

Listen to this Post

The CVE-2024-XXXX (MadeYouReset) vulnerability in HTTP/2 allows attackers to force servers to reset streams excessively, potentially leading to resource exhaustion. In swift-nio-http2, naive attacks are mitigated due to existing DoS protections from RapidReset fixes. However, sophisticated attackers can bypass these by mixing malicious and legitimate traffic. Version 1.38.0 introduces additional checks to detect abnormal client behavior, preventing such evasion. The impact remains mild but warrants patching to block advanced exploitation.
