How the CVE-2025-62497 Vulnerability Works
This CVE describes a classic Cross-Site Request Forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in the Sony SNC-CX600W network camera web interface. The camera’s administrative web pages do not require unique, unpredictable tokens (anti-CSRF tokens) to validate state-changing requests. When an administrator is logged into the camera’s web panel, their browser retains active session cookies. A malicious actor can trick the administrator into visiting a specially crafted webpage. This page contains hidden HTML elements, like a form or image source, that automatically sends a forged HTTP request to the camera’s vulnerable endpoint (e.g., to change settings, reboot, or create a new user). The victim’s browser automatically attaches the valid session cookies to this forged request, causing the camera to accept it as a legitimate action from the authenticated user, thus performing an unintended operation.
