How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-27058 is a critical memory corruption vulnerability in Qualcomm chipsets caused by improper handling of excessively large network packets. When a maliciously crafted oversized packet is processed, it triggers a buffer overflow, corrupting adjacent memory regions. This can lead to arbitrary code execution, denial of service (DoS), or system crashes. The flaw resides in the packet parsing logic of Qualcomm’s wireless communication stack, where insufficient bounds checking allows overwriting critical kernel or firmware structures. Attackers exploiting this could gain elevated privileges or disrupt device functionality remotely.
