How the CVE Works
CVE-2025-21426 is a memory corruption vulnerability in Qualcomm’s camera driver, triggered when processing a Test Pattern Generator (TPG) write request. The flaw occurs due to improper input validation, leading to a buffer overflow. Attackers can exploit this by sending a maliciously crafted TPG command, causing arbitrary code execution in the kernel context. The vulnerability stems from insufficient bounds checking when handling camera firmware commands, allowing overwriting adjacent memory regions. Exploitation requires local access but can escalate privileges to root. The issue affects multiple Qualcomm chipsets due to shared driver code.
